Cranden Press was founded in 1950, specialising in business and wedding stationery and Christmas cards.
The firm passed into the ownership of the Bretherton family in 1979 where it has remained ever since.
MD and head of the family John Bretherton semi-retired in 2011.
His daughter Catherine, with over 20 years experience in the business, took the reigns and has overseen the successful expansion of the company. Sisters Liz and Katie also work at Cranden Press.
As a long established, family run firm Cranden Press understand the traditional values of value for money, commitment and quality and have a real dedication to their craft.
I was born in Preston and grew up in Wilpshire, Blackburn where I attended Holy Souls School and St Augustines RC High School in Billington.
At Cranden, I look after the relationships with our customers and manage their projects to ensure the best quality. I can also turn my hand to foiling, embossing, cutting &creasing and the guillotine!
When I took on the challenge of running the business and succeeded, it was a wonderful feeling. I love the “buzz” when the presses are running flat out. I think ink is in our blood!
At the end of the day it is all about the customer. There is nothing like a satisfied customer, one who comes back year after year because of the reliable, professional service - oh and the smiles!
When I am not working and have some “time out” (not very often!) I like walking, cooking, eating and drinking (not necessarily in that order!) I have an 8 year old son and love spending time with him and being involved in his activities.
I was born and raised in Blackburn.
I loved school. From St Augustine’s High School I went on to study A levels in English, Classics and Art at St Mary’s College in Blackburn. I always knew I wanted to pursue a career involving art and design, so from there I did a Foundation Course at Salford Uni, then went on to do a BA Hons in Fashion Design at MMU.
I am married with two children who have been a huge inspiration for my own range of greetings cards. I enjoy life drawing classes, visiting art galleries, muddy walks and reading a good book in the bath!
At Cranden I run the pre-press side of the business as a Mac operator, outputting artwork to plate. As we have recently invested in a digital printer, I am enjoying running this, and meeting new clients along the way.
I also have a passion for illustration and love creating bespoke designs for wedding stationery as they are unique and give a personal touch.
My drive is definitely family - I enjoy working alongside my sisters towards keeping a great family business….great!
I grew up in the lovely surroundings of Wilpshire and Mellor, Lancashire, alongside my creative family and other animals.
I schooled at St Augustine’s R.C High School in Billington and went on to explore what life had to offer. I travelled and worked abroad and discovered my love for nursing. I went to the University of Surrey and became a Registered Children's Nurse. I travelled to Kenya armed with my faith, a new DSLR camera and a mission to serve the children and families of the Nairobi slums. It was a life changing experience and I haven't stopped capturing moments since.
I worked in St. Marys Hospital, London for a year before moving to Austria to raise my son. Through many wonderful mountain adventures with my camera and extra-ordinary meetings, I began my photography business. I am now based back in the UK and I am blessed to work alongside such a heart driven family business like Cranden Press.
I am now settled back into Lancashire life with my son, being part of Cranden, making new adventures and carrying on capturing the moments in-between.
